The Sail Loft Dartmouth, Devon is the dream project of Rupert & Sarah Smither. They fell in love with this beautiful building at the end of Foss Street in Dartmouth, and were determined to restore it to its former glory, and from it, run a successful hospitality business.

The buildings' origins date back to the early Pilgrims who set sail to the Americas in the mid 1600's, and in the years since it has had many guises including a Customs House, a garage for the GPO, and most recently a Sail Makers and Rigging Business. It is with that tradition and history in mind that they set about the refurbishment of this historically important Dartmouth Building.

With Rupert's vision and determination, and Sarah's interior design flair and attention to detail, they have created a unique bar, restaurant and events venue in one of Dartmouth's' most iconic buildings. They have combined the historic and traditional structure with industrial maritime chic to create a welcoming atmosphere with a modern vibe.

They look forward to welcoming you to this family & dog friendly bar, with its sunny, sheltered courtyard that gets both the afternoon & evening sun. It is an evolving & ever-changing business, now offering an exciting mix of drinking, eating, private functions, guest chefs, pop-ups & events.

STAROPRAMEN

Staropramen, a traditional Czech Pilsner is brewed using the finest ingredients including premium Czech hops. It has a fine hoppy, slightly fruity aroma and a refreshing balanced taste.

ASPALL

Aspall Draught Suffolk Cyder is a crisp, off dry cyder. It has a mid straw colour with a floral/appley aroma and a delicate flavour of fresh pressed apples.

GUINNESS

Guinness is one of the most iconic beers. It is rich and creamy, with a distinctive, ruby red colour & velvety in its finish. Drinkers are drawn to its complexity & bold combination of flavours.

ATLANTIC PALE ALE

Atlantic showcases the citrus aromas and flavours of American hops without the intense bitterness sometimes associated with New World pale ales.

MADRI

Madrí Excepcional is a unique collaboration between the brewers of La Sagra & Molson Coors, with all the taste characteristics of a Mediterranean style lager, full of flavour & aroma.

Rupert & Sarah Smither are the husband and wife team behind the dream of "The Sail Loft" Dartmouth.
With Rupert at the helm, Sarah responsible for the interiors and sail cloth merchandise, and their three children as part of the crew, look out for lots of familiar faces working away at The Sail Loft.
